Die Welt im Löffel (The World in a Spoon)

We are omnivores. Strictly speaking, however, we are more than selective: the food that we eat is not eaten with just anyone, at any location, at any time or under all circumstances. Aesthetics, morals, religion, sexuality, politics – the entire sociocultural fabric of a society – is revealed in cooking and eating.
“Die Welt im Löffel” (The World in a Spoon) brings together culinary positions from ethnologists, artists, philosophers, scientists and cooks. Essays, recipes, ethnographic objects and images from the Weltkulturen Museum’s collection provide a multifaceted insight into kitchens in Germany and abroad.
