The art critic and historian Gisela Burkamp has run Kunstverein Oerlinghausen on a volunteer basis for over thirty years and has curated around 150 exhibitions. The exhibition space is a former synagogue whose atmosphere inspires artists in their work in response to the specific nature of the space, like Günther Uecker in his “Fall Synagoge Oerlinghausen”, and Felix Droese, Frank Badur, Sarah Eckel, Fred Schierenbeck and Jochen Stenschke, who are presented in this publication, along with fifty other artists. The inclusion of texts by Gisela Burkamp make this an excursion through the art scene of recent years.
