Tides, wind, storm surges, and climate change shape a space in which formation and dissolution are inextricably intertwined. In Twisted Landscape, biologist and photographer Oliver Ullrich focuses on the North German Wadden Sea as a landscape in constant flux. His photographs move between scientific observation and artistic interpretation. They depict sedimentary structures, surfaces, and landscapes at micro and macro scales, creating abstract pictorial spaces. The photographic series presents an experience of landscape as an ongoing process, inviting reflection on cycles of becoming and passing away—and, not least, on whether their equilibrium has already been irreversibly altered by climate change.
