As a German-Bohemian painter, draughtsman and graphic artist, Emil Orlik (1870–1932) belonged to that generation of artists who developed their own visual language between realism and Jugendstil in the period around 1900. Prague, Munich, Vienna and Berlin were Orlik’s main points of reference in his life and work. He also spent a lot of time travelling: in Europe, but also in East Asia and the USA.
